We stayed 2 nights at The St Regis Hong Kong during our short trip to Hong Kong in June 2023. After contemplating on a few hotel choices, we settled on the St Regis as we wanted to stay on Hong Kong Island this time round, having stayed at Kowloon during our previous visit to Hong Kong.

Hotel Background and Information
The St Regis Hong Kong opened in April 2019 as Marriott International’s 7000th property. Designed by celebrated interior architect Andre Fu, the hotel is a residentially inspired retreat with a mix of both Asian and Western influences.
The hotel has 127 rooms and suites, with the breakdown of the room types as follows:
The St Regis Hong Kong is located on Hong Kong Island, in the Wan Chai district.
In the immediate vicinity of the hotel lies numerous blocks of office towers, The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), lots of food options, as well as one of the island’s two main bar districts.
It takes around thirty minutes by car to reach the hotel from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG).

Booking Process and Pricing
We booked direct on the hotel’s website, and there weren’t any offers at the time of booking except for a Marriott global promotion offering double nights and points for hotel stays.
Coincidentally, AMEX (Singapore) was having a time limited offer at that time which gave a USD 58 statement credit for a USD 292 cumulative spend at Marriott Bonvoy properties in Australia, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
The catch was that payment had to be made at the front desk and not online so we were initially not able to take advantage of the offer as we had booked the advance purchase rate which required an upfront payment.
However, as fate would have it, we were informed a few days after the reservation that our payment had failed to go through and were asked to make payment via a link sent by the hotel.
We then took the opportunity and asked the reservations team if we could make payment for the total cost less the minimum spending amount for the AMEX offer, and only pay the balance upon check in so that we can take advantage of the AMEX offer.
The reservations team agreed to go along with our suggestion and we were pleased at the flexible approach they took with regards to our request.
Check-in & Lobby
We reached the hotel at around 3:50pm, and the doorman at the arrival lobby on the ground floor came over to help us with our luggage and escorted us to The Great Room, at level 2.
The Great Room, which is the hotel’s main lobby, is an expansive space with high ceilings and large ceiling to floor windows which lets in lots of natural light.
There was no wait upon arrival and we were handed over to the front desk for the check-in formalities.
After the check-in formalities were completed, the front desk staff introduced the various amenities in the hotel and gave us the breakfast details, which took about 15 minutes in total.
Once that was done, we were then escorted to our room by two of the front desk staff, and was given a tour of our room before the staff left. Our luggage was already delivered to our room before we had arrived in the room.
Room: Partial Harbour View Corner Room
We were assigned a room on the 22nd floor. The partial harbour view corner room we had booked measures 53 sqm (570 sqft) and is located at the far end of the level.
Upon entering the room, the do not disturb switch and the main switch can be found on the right.
There is a walkway that leads to the bedroom and along the walkway, there is a ceiling to floor mirror and an open wardrobe on the left while the entrance to the bathroom is on the right.
The bathroom is separated from the walkway by a sliding door and is clad in marble with separately enclosed toilet and shower areas.
The bathroom has a double vanity with a single large mirror.
On the left of the counter top is where the toiletries are placed. These included a shaving kit, a dental kit, a hair brush, a comb, a shower cap, cotton pads, cotton buds, a bottle of Colgate mouthwash, and a bottle of Sodashi body lotion.
Beneath the toiletries is a drawer where the hair dryer can be found.
In the middle of the countertop and between the two sinks, there are two face towels, a box of tissue and a bar of hand soap from Ren clean skincare.
Adjacent to the vanity are two sets of glass doors, which are the bathroom’s shower and toilet areas respectively.
The door on the right leads to the toilet. The toilet bowl is pretty basic and there is no bidet or hand spray. Having said that there are USB-A charging ports in the toilet which are rarely seen.
The left glass door leads to the shower area.
The shower area is rather spacious and has a rainshower head, a handheld showerhead, and even a built-in bench.
Toiletries are supplied by two different brands, with the body wash being Sodashi branded (same as the body lotion), and the shampoo and hair conditioner being supplied by Sachajuan.
Next to the shower area is a freestanding bathtub. The bathtub seems to be big enough for two and comes with a bathtub pillow, which is much appreciated.
There is also a bathroom television that is built-into the mirror on the wall that is facing the bathtub. It is always nice to have a bathroom television to watch while having a soak in the tub.
Opposite the bathroom is a luggage storage area flanked by two wardrobes.
There are a couple of hangers, a bathrobe, an umbrella, a luggage rack and an iron in the left wardrobe.
While the right wardrobe had two spare pillows, more hangers, the in-room safe, and two bedroom slippers.
The laundry list is as follows in case anyone is interested:
Next to the wardrobe is the in-room minibar which occupies a full-height built-in cabinet.
A couple of bottles of alcohol are placed on the top shelve of the minibar and these include Vodka, Rum, Gin, Cognac, and whiskey.
In the shelve below, there is a teapot as well as various drinking glasses.
A coffee machine from Nespresso can be found on the marble countertop of the minibar along with a kettle, an ice bucket, and two glass bottles of water.
In the drawer beneath the countertop lies the minibar fridge, which is stocked with water, juices, and several bottles of alcohol, including a bottle of lager specially crafted for the hotel.
The in-room minibar menu reads as follows:
There are two other drawers next to the minibar fridge where six complimentary Nespresso coffee capsules, four complimentary TWG teabags, some cutlery, and some snacks are placed.
Adjacent to the in-room minibar is a round dining table with an armchair and a three-seater curved sofa. The dining area is useful for in-room dining, and is a comfortable lounging area to enjoy the complimentary beverage service offered by The St Regis butler.
In case anyone wants to know, here is the in-room dining menu:
In the absence of a work desk, this area doubles up nicely as a work area complete with some power sockets in a side table next to the dining area, as well as some stationary.
Below is the WIFI speed during our speed test for reference if anyone is looking to do some work.
Not far from the dining area is the television, placed on top of a TV console and directly facing the bed.
Also in the area is a high back arm chair equipped with a side table, a reading light and an ottoman, great for some reading in a leisurely afternoon.
The king bed is the centrepiece of the room and is flanked by two bedside tables and two bedside lamps with oriental flair.
The Beautyrest mattress was quite comfortable and the hotel has a pillow menu with a range of options for guests’ comfort.
Both bedside tables have a marble top and the one on the left has a phone, a notepad with a pen, as well as a Bible and The Book of Mormon in the drawers.
There are also a row of switches and power outlets built into the bedside table. The switches include those for the main lights, do not disturb sign, night light, reading lights, and the automated curtain controls while there are two USB-A and a type G 230V power outlet on the same panel.
The bedside table on the right has more space in comparison with only the television remote and a Bluetooth speaker on the tabletop.
There is also a hygiene kit (a remanent of the pandemic days) which consists of two disposable masks and a small bottle of hand sanitizer.
Similar to the bedside table on the left, the bedside table on the right also has a row of switches built into the table in the same configuration as the switches and power outlets on the left side.
The partial harbour view corner room has floor to ceiling windows on two sides offering views of Victoria harbour as well as the surrounding neighbourhood.
Unfortunately, as its name suggests, the view of Victoria harbour from the room is partially blocked by the building in front of the hotel. In addition to that, the room does have a view of the hills on Hong Kong island as well.
Facilities
The St Regis Hong Kong is equipped with following facilities:
The hotel has an outdoor heated pool on level 7, which is open from 7 in the morning till 10 at night.
Measuring 19.5 metres long and 6.8 metres wide, the rectangular shaped pool is suitable for swimming laps and has a view of the skyscrapers in the surrounding vicinity.
There are a number of loungers around the pool, with the majority of them under a glass shelter. Given the number of loungers for the size of the pool, it is likely that guests would have no trouble securing one even during the busier times of the day.
There is also a pool bar located right by the pool and it has quite a number of seats considering the small floor area of the bar.
On the same level of the pool is the hotel’s Athletic Club and Spa which consists of the hotel’s gym and spa facilities.
The gym is fairly large and comes equipped with a decent range of gym equipment. Treadmills, stepper machines, functional trainer, weights, and a rowing machine are some of the equipment available for use.
We did not use the spa but here is the pricelist if anyone is interested.
Breakfast & Dining
The St Regis Hong Kong has four dining venues, and this includes three restaurants, and a bar.
The Drawing Room is the hotel’s all day dining venue and is where breakfast is held. It is located right beside The Great Room where guests will pass by enroute to their rooms.
The venue was not large and it was about three quarters full when we were there for breakfast on both days. The Astor Terrace is attached to The Drawing Room which we suppose could be used as an extension to providing more seating if needed.
We were seated shortly after arriving and was presented with the menu as well as having our drinks order taken. Breakfast is an a la carte buffet and the menu reads as follows:
Once our orders were taken, it did not take too long for the food to be served. For a start, a breadbasket and a fruit platter were served followed by the mains. The breakfast was above average in terms of taste but variety was limited.
Below is our breakfast selection over the two days:
Other than The Drawing Room, we also visited The St Regis Bar on one night for some drinks. The St Regis Bar is located within The Drawing Room and it is a cozy space with a pleasant décor.
Unfortunately, the St Regis Bar was full when we visited and we were seated in The Drawing Room instead. We ordered two cocktails with some snacks and service was reasonably fast despite the bar being busy.
Overall Impression
The St Regis Hong Kong is a pleasant property.
To sum things up:
The hard product of the hotel was great with modern and beautiful interiors as the hotel is relatively new, having opened in 2019. Service at the hotel was polite and efficient though there was nothing particularly memorable. Overall, The St Regis Hong Kong is a good option should you wish to stay at the Wan Chai area.
